Edward Martin Payne, 69, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was a son of Audrey Martin Payne and the late Irvin "Pete" Payne. Mr. Payne served in the U.S. Army and graduated from Morris Harvey College in Charleston, West Virginia. He worked at Beckley Coal in West Virginia and retired from the South Carolina Department of Corrections. He was a member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church. Edward was an avid gardener, who loved to chat about sports and politics, and walked four to five miles a day. He was a loving husband, father, and Papa. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Delilah Kay Payne; son, William Michael Payne (Lisa) of Colorado; daughter, Rebecca Payne Brabham (Vance) of Columbia; grandchildren, William Edward Payne, Maxwell Franklin Payne, Vance Payne Brabham, and Brooks Reed Brabham; step-grandchildren, Evan, Adam and Ben Widdifield; sisters, Sharon LeDuc (Denis) of Michigan and Nancy Miller (Frank) of California; and brother, Jay Payne of Michigan. Per Edward's request, no services will be held.
