Mike Supanich

SUPANICH, Michael (Mick) Left his body on June 22 2015 in the arms of his wife of 35 years, Julia. His spirit remains forever. Born March 30 1949, Mick grew up near Detroit Michigan playing ice hockey from the age of four, continuing his passion into his 50's having skated on several local teams and with childhood friends at the annual Snoopy Seniors Tournament. He pursued and excelled in many sports throughout his life from cycling to skiing. Over a 40 year span he built, remodeled and maintained many homes in Oregon and California. He was a gifted craftsman, building everything from furniture to cabinets, in fine woodworking and luthiery, a passion which reflected his deep love of music. He had an intense appetite to learn and play all kinds of music, regularly jamming with friends. Over the past 15 years he embraced the beauty of Sonoma County through hiking. He enjoyed rich fellowship within the local dance community. Mick put his spirituality into practical assistance of others. Mick's greatest accomplishment was in devotion to family. He is survived by his wife; daughters, Yaicha, Lia and Marie; and granddaughter, Akira. Their partners, many family and friends will gather on July 18 at the family home in Sebastopol in celebration of this extraordinary man. Please email counterpt@sbcglobal.net for information. This is an extraordinary memory for an extraordinary man.  I loved watching Mike play hockey in high school.  He was swift and fearless. Mike will be missed by more than his family.  He had many friends who found the true spirit in Mike long ago.

Peace and love to his family.

Mike was one of my best friends. I lived on Frazho and Mike and Mike Hootaman lived on Culver and Earl Dover and Paul Nadon lived on Winton, so us six were always together during High School.

Mike had a unique laugh, a mix between a chuckle and a giggle, that one started took forever to subside. We were pals and he came to visit me once when I was stationed in San Diego before I shipped out to Vietnam. That was the last time I saw him.

My fondest memory of Mike was how proud he was as he showed off his old British Spitfire sports car. The excitement in his face coupled with his sparkling eyes was contagious. I'll always miss that fire.
