Residing In: Traverse City, MI USA
Children & Grandchildren Casey, born 1977

No grandchildren yet but I am still hopeful I will get to spoil some in the More…future.
Occupation: Teacher 6-7 Math
Favorite memory of Lakeview

After graduating from WMU, I married fellow classmate, John Conn who was a State Trooper. We moved all around the state. Casey was born in Bridgeport, MI. I became a "Stay at home" Mom and I loved it. I treasure the memories of the different adventures we took around the neighborhood.

We moved to Traverse City in 1985 and I was hired by Traverse City schools in 1986. I am still working for them today. My life has been full of challenges and I have grown from each of them. As I look back, I remember always thinking I was a "wimp" but I have discovered I am anything but a wimp. I am a very strong, independent person who loves life and no challenge is ever too hard to overcome.

School Story

I'm not sure I have a "favorite" memory. I do remember a Spelling Bee in Mr. Smith's class. The word was "twelfth." Rudy and I were disagreeing about how it was spelled and I was sure I was correct. Four or five people misspelled before it was my turn. Shocking Rudy, I spelled it his way and got it correct. He gave me this shocked look , so I just reminded him that girls always have the right to change their minds. He just laughed at me. Whenever I see the word, "twelfth", I think of Rudy.

I also remember almost failing Phys Ed. because I couldn't stand on my head. Yeah, that made a big difference in my life. Where would I be now if I couldn't stand on my head!

Hi Bill, I saw your post about your first days at LHS. I too remember my first days in Mrs. S Biology class. I was so happy I had you for a partner even if we didn't have to disect anything. I too remember the DNA strand hanging from the ceiling. I often told my Science students how new DNA was and how we had no idea how important it would become in our lives and the changes it cause in the future.
It is always amazing that I became a Math and Science teacher when I look at my grades in those two subjects in High School. However I do remember Mrs. S saying during our midterm exam, "you don't mind if I turn on the radio do you?" Of course no one said "no" however i should have. All I did throughout the exam is hum along with the songs, one of which was Goldfinger. I got an F on the exam and learned a lot about my learning styles.
Thanks Bill for the trip down memory lane. It was a fun journey.
