Doug Petit

 

Douglas H. Petit, age 72, a resident of Bruce Township since 1992 and previously from St Clair Shores, passed away at his home on Friday, January 29, 2021. Doug was born January 15, 1949 in Detroit, the son of Paul and Martha (Brooks) Petit. After graduating from Lakeview High School in St Clair Shores in 1967, Doug married his high school sweetheart Nelly Peters, whom he had dated for 5 years prior from the age of 15 years old. Doug worked in the tool & die industry during his working years as a business owner running a skilled staffing service and as a toolmaker making automotive parts. He loved to tinker, invent things, and once got a patent on a tool he made. Mostly Doug loved being with his wife, grandkids, and children and being a part of their lives which included playing golf, basketball, and baseball with the family. He was an extremely athletic man and hard worker with a brilliant mind. He was the bravest, strongest, selfless, passionate, loyal, and faithful husband, Dad, Opa, and brother and he will be greatly missed. He leaves behind a family that loved and cherished him deeply. His wife Nelly, daughter Anne-Marie (Stephen), son Mark (Mary), grandchildren Douglas (Maddy), PJ, Tory, Evan, Cole, Brian, siblings Sant (Terri), Deborah (Jay), Michael (Beverly) and preceded by Eugene, Maryjane, and Richard (Vicki). Funeral visitation will take place Tuesday at Henry M. Marburg Funeral Home (11280 32 Mile Road, Romeo Michigan 48065) from 11-5 PM with pastoral prayers at 4 PM. Burial will take place on Wednesday at 10 AM at the Almont-Hough Cemetery in Almont, Michigan.
